Yes! If you use Rithmic or Sierra Chart as your data provider, then you can setup either our TradeCraft Beacon (Rithmic), or our Sierra Chart study to have your trades sync with our journal in real-time! We plan to add additional platforms for real-time sync in the future, so be sure to keep an eye on our roadmap. Many proper firms use Rithmic for their data provider, so there’s a good chance that you will be able to sync your trades in real-time.
If your data or platform is not supported, you can still do real time trades using “dummy trades”, then you can import your P&L later which will seamlessly mesh with your Trade Craft journal’s tags. Check out our knowledge base article here.
The statistics your P&L provides are very generic. In fact, most journals provide broad statistics that don’t truly help you find statistical edge. Your trading identity is unique. Therefore, you need unique statistics. For example: are you better at “scalping” or “holding” a trade?
These are statistics a P&L nor a journal can tell you. They’re not smart enough to know what your trading system or plan is. Only you can know that. So therefore, you need to generate your own statistics around “scalping” and “holding” by creating tags.
After a large enough sample size you may think you are good as a “holding” trader, but the statistics will say otherwise and show you that there may be more edge with “scalping” and you are losing on “holding” trades.
Now you have a level of clarity on what you should be doing more of. General statistics generated through P&L will not tell you this information. Therefore, you can’t make educated adjustments to improve in your trading as quickly.
Consistently tagging trades is record keeping. Trading is a business and it’s important to know how you’re performing. A lot of traders have no clue and just guess. As a result, they flounder for years never making real progress. By using the TradeCraft trading journal and setting up tags and tag groups, you’ll be able to learn quite a bit about what type of trader you are, as well as how to find and refine your trading edge.
Once you find trade tag combos that have edge through your dashboard, you can group them together. You simply pick the winning tag combos in the playbook section and then give it a name. When you are live tagging - more specifically tagging before a trade, if you put in the right combo of tags, the playbook name will pop up. This quickly lets you know you have a playbook setup on hand, which gives you the confidence to take the trade.

When you are live tagging you can quickly click a button to calculate the statistics on your tag combos before entering a trade. This can potentially keep you out of bad trades, or tell you if there's an edge with your current combination of tags. The stats displayed are:
- Number of trades
- Win%
- Average trade P&L
- Cumulative P&L

Yes! After you sign up, you will have the option to switch your membership plan at any time. If you are unable to do so, please contact us and we will take care of the change for you. If you already have a Basic subscription and you wish to upgrade to Premium, you will only be charged for the price difference between the two plans.
If you downgrade from the Premium version, you won't lose access to your journal. We value the work our users put into their journals, and if for any reason you wish to cut ties with us you can always export all your trades and tags into a CSV file.
We have a ton of ideas and features that we will be adding in future updates. To see what they are, check out our roadmap section here.
